Coordinating Minister AHY awaits economic development direction in President's speech

Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) is anticipating the direction of economic development in President Prabowo Subianto’s state address at the 2026 Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representatives Council (DPD). AHY stated that the President’s state address is an important moment to convey the direction of national development ahead of the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia to all Indonesian citizens. “Of course, there are many things we want to hear regarding how we can improve people’s welfare through economic development, including sustainable infrastructure,” AHY said in Jakarta on Friday. He made the statement when met by the media on the sidelines of entering the 2026 MPR Annual Session and the DPR-DPD Joint Session hall. “People’s issues are certainly important for us to hear through the President’s state address this morning ahead of the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia,” he said. According to AHY, improving people’s welfare must continue to be encouraged through strong economic development supported by sustainable infrastructure as the foundation for inclusive and equitable national growth. AHY also hopes that all development sectors will become more advanced without neglecting the commitment to safeguarding democracy and strengthening fair law enforcement for all levels of Indonesian society. On Friday, the MPR, DPR, and DPD held the 2026 MPR Annual Session and the DPR-DPD Joint Session, which included an agenda for President Prabowo Subianto’s speech to deliver the performance report of state institutions and the state address in the context of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. In addition to the speech, the government will also screen a video on government performance achievements. This annual session is a state agenda to welcome the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, which carries the theme “A Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia”.
