Coordinating Minister AHY Attends Cap Go Meh Singkawang
Singkawang — Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) attended the Cap Go Meh celebrations in Singkawang, West Kalimantan, whilst inspecting several strategic infrastructure projects in the region.
The Coordinating Minister’s working visit to West Kalimantan on 2–3 March 2026 began with an inspection of the Singkawang Airport Road access project.
“The inspection was conducted to ensure that infrastructure development for connectivity proceeds according to plan and is able to drive regional economic growth,” AHY stated in West Kalimantan on Monday.
AHY stated that infrastructure development must provide direct impact on improving the quality of life of the community, strengthening inter-regional connectivity, opening business opportunities, and driving sustainable regional economic growth.
He emphasised that the central government continues to strengthen synergy with regional authorities in overseeing strategic projects to ensure they are on target and sustainable.
The working visit also demonstrated the government’s commitment to maintaining social harmony and cultural diversity, whilst ensuring that infrastructure development in West Kalimantan proceeds in an integrated manner for the welfare of the community.
Additionally, AHY inspected the “Sekolah Rakyat” (Community School) project on Sagatani Road, Pangmilang District. The programme is part of efforts to improve the quality and access to educational facilities for the community.
AHY also visited a Ramadhan Fair or food market in the Taman Burung (Bird Park) area, subsequently engaging in dialogue with Generation Z and millennial students from various universities and institutions.
Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister AHY is scheduled to attend the opening of the Cap Go Meh Festival and witness the Tatung Parade, which is an iconic cultural symbol of Singkawang and a national tourist attraction on Tuesday (3 March).
The Cap Go Meh celebration in Singkawang is known as one of the largest in Indonesia and reflects the harmony and diversity of the local community.
During the visit, AHY was accompanied by Deputy Nazib Faizal, Special Staff to the Coordinating Minister Agust Jovan Latuconsina and Herzaky Mahendra Putra, as well as Police Inspector General Arif Rachman.
