Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) has emphasised the government’s commitment to delivering safe, proper, and comfortable educational facilities for santri. The commitment was conveyed during his inspection of the reconstruction of the Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School complex in Sidoarjo Regency, East Java, on Tuesday. In addition to focusing on building safety aspects, Minister AHY stated that the government is also ensuring the availability of supporting facilities such as adequate sanitation and access to clean water. Minister AHY expressed hope that the improved facilities would create a conducive learning environment, allowing santri to focus more on gaining knowledge and developing their character. “We want to provide something better and more comfortable for the santri so they can be calmer and more focused in the teaching and learning process, reciting the Quran, deepening religious knowledge, and building noble character,” explained Minister AHY. Ultimately, he continued, they will become a generation of the nation that brings benefits to religion, society, and the state. On the occasion, Minister AHY also took the time to engage in direct dialogue with the santri. He offered encouragement and optimism that the current temporary conditions would soon be replaced with much better and more proper facilities. “I want the santri to continue to have hope and optimism. God willing, they will later have a better learning environment that is more supportive of their future,” concluded Minister AHY.
