Cooperatives encouraging
The way that cooperatives in this country have developed is
extremely encouraging. The government has given its attention to
cooperative institutions, because cooperatives constitute one of
the main economic pillars besides state-owned companies and
private enterprises.
Cooperatives, managed using up-to-date methods, are found
throughout the country, with the aim of enhancing the members'
welfare. The government, through the 1992 Cooperatives Law, gives
an exclusive right to cooperatives to do certain types of
business and trade which are closed to other forms of enterprise.
The hard days of the cooperatives are now in the past. Now,
cooperatives are not just a political will but a direct
interpretation of Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution.
Nevertheless, we still have to work harder for better results,
in which cooperatives in conjunction with the state companies and
private enterprises will prove themselves to be even more
beneficial.
