Through this activity, it proves that Subang is a super regency because it can now export various commodities.

Subang (ANTARA) - The Minister of Cooperatives, Ferry Juliantono, launched the export of 3 tons of mangosteens from the Upland Subang Farm Cooperative to China, marking the eighth shipment of fresh mangosteens to the country.

“This time, the Upland Subang Farm Cooperative is exporting 3 tons of mangosteens, bringing the total transaction value since the first shipment to IDR 6.6 billion,” said the Minister during the launch of the mangosteen export by the Upland Subang Farm Cooperative to China in Subang, West Java, Thursday.

He said that the export of agricultural products from the cooperative in Subang shows that cooperatives are capable of competing and penetrating the global market.

In the near future, the Upland Subang Farm Cooperative plans to add a business unit for packaging canned pineapple products for export.

“Through this activity, it proves that Subang is a super regency because it can now export various commodities. Hopefully, we are ready to help so that it can meet the pineapple exports as requested by countries in the Middle East,” said the Minister.

The Ministry of Cooperatives’ support for the progress of the Upland Subang Farm Cooperative is not only in the form of policy but also financing.

The Minister encouraged the Revolving Fund Management Agency (LPDB) to provide financing support to the cooperative.

With this financing support, the Minister hopes that the quality and quantity, as well as the diversification efforts of the Upland Subang Farm Cooperative, can be carried out according to its business plan.

With sufficient capital, it is also hoped that this cooperative will be able to absorb agricultural products at better prices so that farmers can improve their welfare.

“I am confident that this Upland Cooperative can buy at better prices from farmers and can improve management and then export everywhere,” he said.

Based on the results of the review of the proposal and business processes carried out by the cooperative to the LPDB, in the initial stage, it is estimated that the funds that can be provided are around IDR 4 billion. Furthermore, it is estimated that the value of financing that can be disbursed can reach IDR 20 billion.

“Later, when this cooperative can be developed, we will encourage its financing to reach IDR 20 billion, but it must go through a process of continuous incubation and assistance,” he said.

The Minister added that the success of the mangosteen export by the Upland Subang Farm Cooperative is in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s vision to make cooperatives the driving force of the village economy and the main actors in bringing local (village) products to the world market.

Furthermore, the Minister mentioned the cooperative ecosystem that is being built, including the Merah Putih Village/Urban Cooperative, which will soon operate, can be part of the ecosystem for developing the Upland Subang Farm Cooperative.

He hopes that this cooperative can be connected with a network of village cooperatives throughout Indonesia, so that its products are not only exported but also marketed domestically through the cooperative network.

“So, it’s not just exported, but it can also be sold through the Merah Putih Village Cooperative throughout Indonesia. Local products in Subang or its surroundings can also be sold through the Merah Putih Village Cooperative,” said the Minister.

He emphasized that support for cooperatives is part of the spirit of the founding fathers to make cooperatives the pillar of the national economy. In closing, Minister Ferry hopes that Subang can export other superior commodities, especially pineapples.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Regent of Subang, Agus Masykur Rosyadi, expressed his pride in the success of the mangosteen export, which has been a dream since the Upland program was launched.

According to him, this achievement shows that Subang mangosteens have met international standards, following the success of coffee exports.

Agus emphasized that the challenge going forward is to ensure that pineapple products meet buyer specifications.

He hopes for guidance from the Ministry of Cooperatives so that Subang continues to have superior products that can compete in the global market.
