Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Minister of Cooperatives, Ferry Juliantono, has stated that the Red and White Village Cooperative (KDMP) will become a hub for traditional shops and street vendors at the village level. This was revealed after a meeting with the Indonesian Street Vendors Association (APKLI) at his office on Thursday, February 26, 2026.

“We have had intensive discussions with the Indonesian Street Vendors Association regarding the Red and White Village Cooperative, which will serve as a hub to sell goods to traditional shops and members of the association at relatively lower and more affordable prices,” said Ferry during a press conference on Thursday, February 26, 2026.

In addition, the Red and White Village Cooperative will also sell local MSME products from the villages, thereby increasing the circulation of funds in the villages.

“In addition to traditional shops, the Red and White Village Cooperative will also sell local MSME products at its respective cooperative outlets,” Ferry added.

He reiterated that the Red and White Village Cooperative must be able to build relationships with parties in the village, such as Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes), MSMEs in the village, and traditional shops in the village.

“From the beginning, the Red and White Village Cooperative must be able to build relationships with BUMDes, traditional shops, MSMEs in the village, and traditional markets,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of APKLI, Ali Mahsun, welcomed the Ministry of Cooperatives’ initiative to make the Red and White Village Cooperative a hub for traditional shops and MSMEs. He also emphasized that the Red and White Village Cooperative will not act as a retailer but as an agent or wholesaler.

“We are grateful that the Minister agreed that the Red and White Village Cooperative can be a hub for traditional shops, not a retailer,” said Ali Mahsun.

With this hub, an ecosystem can be created that will accelerate economic growth in the villages, as the circulation of money in the villages can be enjoyed by the villagers themselves.

“There will be KDMP, traditional shops, culinary products from MSMEs, all of which will be served by KDMP as a hub. Thus, an ecosystem will be built, where the circulation of money and economic potential will be in our respective villages,” he added.

In addition, this hub will make the prices of goods sold at the Red and White Village Cooperative more affordable.

“This hub will certainly make the prices of goods sold at the Red and White Village Cooperative cheaper,” said Ali Mahsun.
