Cooperative faces law suit
SEMARANG, Central Java: Sixty four families are threatening to sue the management of the provincial branch of the Workers Cooperative for building shoddy houses.
"We have formally reported the poor condition of the houses to the cooperative management but there has been no reply," a spokesman for the families, Sambodo, said yesterday.
The families are occupants of the Pundak Payung low-cost housing complex in the city's southern outskirts.
Reportedly, the condition of the houses was so deplorable that three cabinet ministers and the governor who visited the complex recently refused to dedicate them.
"The project will not be inaugurated until the cooperative renovates it," Governor Soewardi said. (har)
