Minister of Cooperatives (Menkop) Ferry Juliantono revealed that mini-scale Solar Power Plants (PLTS) support Red and White Village/Urban Village Cooperatives (Kopdes Merah Putih) and the provision of electricity in villages that do not yet have access to power.

“It should be noted that the Red and White Village/Urban Village Cooperatives are now entering the operationalisation phase, thus requiring support for electricity provision, which, God willing, can be addressed through this collaboration in the form of providing mini-scale PLTS, more precisely with a capacity of 0.5 Megawatts (MW),” said Ferry Juliantono during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday.

Furthermore, he continued, this is also expected to help the community not only in obtaining energy for household use but also for their business and economic activities.

The Ministry of Cooperatives and PT Energy Absolute GreenX Indonesia signed a Joint Memorandum of Understanding regarding the Indonesian Village Energy Independence Programme.

According to him, it is hoped that through this collaboration, the acceleration can be carried out on a large scale in large numbers, as the number of villages and urban villages requiring solutions for electricity provision using solar power represents the fastest solution.

“Therefore, we have signed the agreement today, and it is hoped that in the future we can immediately implement it in the regions. For this, we thank PT Energy Absolute GreenX Indonesia for providing the resources to accelerate this activity. It is hoped that this can be implemented as soon as possible,” said Ferry.

It is hoped that through this collaboration, it can support the desire of the President of the Republic of Indonesia for Indonesia to achieve energy self-sufficiency, particularly in providing energy to the community in the form of small-scale solar power plants that can later be managed by cooperatives, and even through the existing Red and White Village/Urban Village Cooperatives.

“In this regard, we will try to start with a pilot in Ambon. Perhaps after we review there, there are also many Red and White Village Cooperatives, Mr Minister, which may this Mr Minister of Cooperatives has also supported the initiative for piloting in Ambon City,” said Justine Joel.
