Coop Minister: 2,500 Red and White Village Cooperatives Have Physical Outlets
Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono stated that 34,000 Red and White Village/Urban Village Cooperatives (KDKMP) in Indonesia are building physical outlets. As many as 2,500 Red and White Village Cooperatives have completed the construction process at 100 per cent.
“At present, 34,000 physical buildings including warehouses, outlets, and equipment have been constructed across Indonesia, with 2,500 physical buildings completed at 100 per cent,” said Ferry in a statement in Surabaya, East Java, on Sunday, 29 March 2026, as quoted by Antara.
Ferry mentioned that the 34,000 red and white cooperatives are part of the total of around 83,000 cooperatives nationwide that have been established and possess legal entity status or cooperative deeds.
He explained that obtaining a cooperative deed is not an easy step for a KDKMP, as it requires a special village deliberation mechanism. “So all villages and urban villages hold meetings to form the legal entity of the KDKMP,” he said.
After obtaining the cooperative deed or legal entity status, the process that began in June 2025, said Ferry, is then followed by constructing physical buildings for the red and white village cooperatives.
He stated that through Presidential Instruction No. 17 of 2025, the Ministry of Cooperatives has tasked PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara (Persero) with constructing the physical outlets, stores, and equipment for the Red and White Village Cooperatives, assisted by the TNI.
Ferry also targets that by August and September 2026, there will be 10,000 Red and White Village Cooperatives that have completed their physical construction process. “Insha’Allah, gradually by August and September there will be another 10,000 completed, and so on,” he said.
In the future, according to him, the Red and White Village Cooperatives in every village and urban village will sell and serve as outlets for staple goods, including subsidised items, basic necessities, and daily needs.
In addition, the Red and White Village Cooperatives will function as medicine outlets and village clinics, as well as venues for microfinance institution activities, warehousing, and logistics operations. “However, beyond what I mentioned earlier, each KDKMP can carry out business or entrepreneurial activities according to the potential and needs of the village and urban village,” said Ferry.
