Cooking Oil, Sugar, Rice, and Egg Prices Surge Again: Here's the Full List
Bank Indonesia, through its National Strategic Food Price Information Centre (PIHPS), has reported a fresh wave of price increases across a range of essential food commodities. The data indicates that various grades of rice have risen, with lower-quality rice I climbing by Rp 1,050 to Rp 15,800 per kg and lower-quality rice II up by Rp 750 to Rp 15,300 per kg. Medium-quality rice I and II also saw increases of Rp 550 and Rp 500, reaching Rp 16,950 and Rp 16,650 per kg respectively, while super-quality rice II rose by Rp 650 to Rp 17,800 per kg.
Other notable increases were recorded for medium-sized shallots, which surged by Rp 4,050 to Rp 49,050 per kg, and medium-sized garlic, which rose by Rp 4,650 to Rp 48,900 per kg. The price of purebred chicken eggs jumped by Rp 2,350 to Rp 31,300 per kg, although fresh chicken meat prices bucked the trend, falling by Rp 450 to Rp 37,450 per kg. In the chilli category, large red chillies saw a sharp increase of Rp 9,300 to Rp 58,350 per kg, while curly red chillies rose by Rp 2,000 to Rp 48,150 per kg. Conversely, green bird’s eye chillies dropped significantly by Rp 15,300 to Rp 36,450 per kg, and red bird’s eye chillies fell by Rp 4,050 to Rp 55,150 per kg.
Prices for beef also declined, with quality I beef falling by Rp 1,950 to Rp 148,600 per kg and quality II beef dropping by Rp 2,300 to Rp 139,600 per kg. However, other key staples recorded increases, including premium granulated sugar, which rose by Rp 1,650 to Rp 21,950 per kg. The cooking oil sector saw broad gains, with bulk cooking oil up by Rp 900 to Rp 21,400 per litre, branded cooking oil I up by Rp 1,900 to Rp 26,150 per litre, and branded cooking oil II rising by Rp 1,800 to Rp 25,200 per litre.
