Convicted child molester in Tangsel case apprehended
South Tangerang (ANTARA) - The High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati) of Banten arrested Maskuri (63), the convict in a child molestation case in Pamulang, South Tangerang City (Tangsel), on Wednesday (8/4) at his hiding place in Tegal Regency, Central Java. “He was apprehended by the fugitive capture team (tabur) around 18:40 WIB,” said the Head of the Information Technology and Intelligence Production Section of Kejati Banten, Armansyah Lubis, in Tangerang on Thursday. He explained that the case had been decided by the Supreme Court under Number 4465 K/Pid.Sus/2025. “The individual has been on the wanted list (DPO) for the past year,” he stated. The arrest process for this fugitive, he said, began with accurate information received by the Kejati Banten Tabur Team regarding Maskuri’s whereabouts, hiding at his nephew’s house. “The team then moved quickly and successfully captured him without resistance,” he added. According to him, the case has acquired final legal force through the Supreme Court decision Number 4465 K/Pid.Sus/2025, which declared him guilty in the child molestation case. He noted that the convict was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rp50 million, subsidiary six months’ confinement. “The Supreme Court stated that the defendant was legally and convincingly proven to have committed the criminal act of enticing a child for indecent acts,” he said. Previously, Maskuri had been declared not guilty by the Tangerang District Court. However, prosecutors filed a cassation appeal, leading the Supreme Court to overturn that decision and declare the defendant guilty. After the decision gained final legal force, the convict failed to comply with the execution summons and was added to the DPO list. After being captured, he continued, Maskuri was immediately taken to the South Tangerang District Prosecutor’s Office for further processing. He emphasised that the arrest is part of the Prosecutor’s Office’s commitment to executing court decisions that have final legal force and ensuring that no criminals escape legal accountability. “Subsequently, the convict will undergo checks and be executed to the Tangerang Class IIA Youth Prison,” he said.
