Convention of small firms
JAKARTA (JP): The Yayasan Dharma Bhakti Astra held a convention for small and medium-scale enterprises at Ceper, Central Java, last week to assess their capability in total quality control, technical drafts and production management.
The participants in the convention were selected from the employees and owners of about 250 small and medium-scale enterprises in Jakarta, Bandung, Sukabumi, Klaten and Sidoarjo which have been developed by the Yayasan Dharma Bhakti Astra since the mid-1980s.
The Yayasan Dharma Bhakti Astra is a foundation of the widely- diversified Astra business group which was set up in May, 1980 with the special task of helping develop small and medium-scale firms through a total package of assistance.
Palgunadi Setyawan, an executive of the foundation, said the convention, the first such forum organized for small firms, was also aimed at encouraging those enterprises to further develop their human resources. (vin)
