Convenient: Apply for a Home Ownership Loan Now via Mobile Phone, Here's How
JAKARTA - Applying for a Home Ownership Loan (KPR) is now even more convenient as it can be done directly via mobile phone. Through the Tapera Mobile application, low-income communities (MBR) can apply for housing financing online with simpler and more integrated stages. This service is available to low-income communities (MBR) across Indonesia. “With just one grip, housing financing can already be carried out,” said BP Tapera Commissioner Heru Pudyo Nugroho in a press release on Tuesday (14/4/2026). The initial step requires prospective debtors to download the Tapera Mobile application via the Google Play Store or App Store. The next stage involves understanding the instructions that appear in the app, then taking a selfie photo with the ID card and a separate photo of the ID card according to the provided areas. The system will automatically read the data from the ID card and fill in personal identity details. Prospective debtors are asked to validate and correct the data if there are any discrepancies, then save the data. After that, users must perform facial verification by following the movement instructions requested by the application. Next, prospective debtors enter their mobile phone number and create a password with a combination of numbers, letters, and characters. The process continues with entering the six-digit OTP code sent via SMS for mobile phone verification. If the registration process is successful, users can proceed to the home search stage by utilising the available filter features in the application. After finding a suitable home, prospective debtors can study the details and select the “Apply for KPR” option. After passing that stage, prospective debtors choose the disbursing bank and determine the meeting schedule, then press the “Apply Now” button. After the application is successful, users can monitor the financing status through the “Track Status” feature. The KPR application process at the bank consists of five stages: financing application, follow-up, issuance of SP3K, habitability assessment, and contract signing. After meeting with the bank team, prospective debtors can still monitor the development of their application independently through the application.
