Controversy Over Parking Fees at Depok Public Cemetery, Viral Ticket Deemed Unofficial
DEPOK, KOMPAS.com - The controversy surrounding parking fees at the Kampung Serab Public Cemetery (TPU) in Depok City has come under scrutiny following its virality on social media. Complaints from visitors feeling burdened by parking levies and the lack of clarity in management have sparked public interest. It initially stemmed from a post on the Instagram account @depok24jam, which displayed a motorcycle parking ticket with a fee of Rp5,000. The ticket also stated that any loss or damage to the vehicle would be the owner’s responsibility. Moreover, there is no certainty regarding guarantees for the security of parked vehicles. Based on observations at the site on Monday (23/3/2026), visitors arriving were directed to a parking area in the vicinity of the TPU. However, after parking their vehicles, they did not receive a parking ticket as circulated on social media. When questioned, parking attendants at the location also stated that they did not provide parking tickets. “No, just go ahead,” said one of the attendants on site. Several visitors reported experiencing the same issue. However, Roni (38) mentioned that on a previous visit, he had received a fee-based ticket, but not anymore. “No, not given, there was one yesterday but not today,” said Roni. He noted that the usual parking fee requested is around Rp5,000, but without a payment ticket, it is often flexible.
