REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Daily Chairman of the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Ahmad Ali, considers the Secretary of the PSI Patronage Council, Grace Natalie, as a victim following a complaint lodged against her with the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri). Grace is entangled in a case involving a clipped video of a sermon by Indonesia’s 10th and 12th Vice President, Jusuf Kalla (JK). Ali expressed sympathy for the case faced by Grace but permits her to take personal responsibility for her statements without involving the party. “PSI is naturally concerned, and from our one-sided perspective, we believe that Ms Grace is also one of the victims. Okay. A victim of fear, which we have feared all along, that the circulation of these video clips would lead many people to misinterpret them,” Ali told Republika on Wednesday (6/5/2026). In a video post on the Instagram account @gracenat on 13 April 2026, Grace Natalie protested JK’s statements regarding the concept of “martyrdom” in the circulating clipped sermon video. “Ms Grace is one of the people who became a victim because after reading and hearing the video, she commented on it. Okay,” Ali stated. Ali described the JK video clip as prone to misinterpretation. According to him, Grace is among the victims of the misinterpretation of that clipped video.
