Contributions to Indonesian Cooperatives Recognised, Here Are the Categories
Cooperatives are one of the economic forces that grow together with the community. Their existence is not only a vehicle for joint enterprise, but also plays a role in creating jobs, increasing members’ income, and helping communities develop their economic activities.
This role gives cooperatives an important position in national economic development. By prioritising the principle of kinship, cooperatives can become a space for communities to run business activities while obtaining shared benefits.
Amid economic and technological developments, cooperatives also face the challenge of continuing to adapt. Digitalisation opens opportunities for cooperatives to expand their business reach, whether through digital marketing, the use of digital platforms, or payment systems.
Strengthening cooperatives is part of efforts to drive economic transformation based on Pancasila values. President Prabowo Subianto considers cooperatives to have an important role in lifting people out of poverty and powerlessness.
“It is clearly mandated that the Indonesian economy is organised as a joint effort based on the principle of kinship. Therefore, cooperatives must be strengthened, cooperatives must rise! Cooperatives are one of the tools to lift our people from poverty and powerlessness,” Prabowo stressed some time ago.
In line with this, the government continues to encourage the strengthening of the cooperative ecosystem through various programmes. Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono conveyed a number of achievements by the Ministry of Cooperatives throughout 2025 as part of these efforts.
“Throughout 2025, the Ministry of Cooperatives recorded a number of strategic achievements as a foundation for strengthening the national cooperative ecosystem,” Ferry said during a meeting with Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (15/7).
One focus is improving the quality of cooperative human resources. More than 15,000 assistants for the Koperasi Desa Merah Putih programme, 143,000 KDKMP administrators, and 206,000 cooperative personnel have participated in various training programmes to improve professionalism and the quality of cooperative governance.
Cooperatives have also begun to take part in a number of government priority programmes. A total of 69 cooperatives have entered the Free Nutritious Meals ecosystem, either as managers of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units or as suppliers of staple raw materials.
These developments are inseparable from the contributions of many parties. From central and regional governments, cooperative administrators and assistants, cooperative movement figures, to community leaders, all have a role in encouraging cooperatives to become stronger and provide benefits to the community.
These contributions and dedication are recognised through the Koperasi Awards 2026. The event, organised by the Ministry of Cooperatives, is a form of appreciation for state officials, central and regional government officials, cooperative movement figures, and community leaders who have played a role in the guidance, development, and strengthening of cooperatives.
There are five award categories to be presented at the Koperasi Awards 2026:
