Contributions of Female Leaders Recognised: Batam Deputy Mayor Li Claudia Wins KWP Awards 2026
Jakarta, VIVA – Batam Deputy Mayor Li Claudia Chandra has won an award at the KWP Awards 2026 in the category of female leader driving innovation and collaboration in border areas. Li was represented by Deputy for Public Services of the BP Batam, Ariastuty Sirait.
This award serves as recognition of her commitment to strengthening development synergies and promoting various breakthroughs in strategic border regions.
In her statement, Li Claudia expressed appreciation to the Parliamentary Journalists’ Coordinator (KWP) for paying attention to the contributions of local leaders, especially women, in driving development progress.
She assessed that the role of KWP is not limited to disseminating information but also includes guiding and appreciating the tangible efforts made by leaders to bring positive changes to society.
“This award is not just for me personally, but also for all parties who have worked together to build Batam through innovation and collaboration,” said Li Claudia in her official statement on Thursday, 16 April 2026.
According to her, the theme of the KWP Awards 2026, “Guiding the Struggle, Appreciating Dedication: Together Realising Golden Indonesia”, reflects the collective spirit in driving national progress, including in border areas that have their own challenges.
She also emphasised that this award will serve as motivation to continue strengthening cross-sector collaboration, both with central and local governments as well as the community, to create inclusive and sustainable development.
Li Claudia hopes that the appreciation from KWP can inspire more female leaders to continue contributing and taking strategic roles in national development, especially in areas with important positions like border zones.
“May this award become a motivator for us all to keep working and giving our best for society,” she said.
The KWP Awards 2026 carries the theme “Guiding the Struggle, Appreciating Dedication: Together Realising Golden Indonesia”.
This event is a biennial agenda aimed at recognising legislators, senators, and parliamentary work partners who have made real impacts through their legislative and oversight functions.
In this year’s edition, there were more than 60 award recipients nominated. For information, this award-giving tradition has been consistent, such as the KWP Awards 2021 led by Marlen Erikson Sitompul and the KWP Awards 2023 helmed by Ariawan along with Samrut Lellosima.
