Contraflow and One-Way Systems in Bandung Make Eid Exodus Traffic More Manageable

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CIKARANG - The application of traffic engineering in the form of contraflow and one-way systems during the Eid exodus Lebaran has elicited varied responses from travellers passing through the Jakarta to Bandung route. This policy is deemed quite helpful in smoothing vehicle traffic flow. Rico, one of the travellers on the Jakarta-Bandung route, stated that contraflow has a positive impact in alleviating traffic density. “In my opinion, it helps. With the contraflow, the flow that was previously full can be reduced from the situation I saw earlier. From KM 20 to whatever, it was very congested, but when from KM 30 with contraflow, the density gradually eased,” said Rico. He also highlighted the use of technology in traffic management, which he views as increasingly modern, such as the utilisation of drones and helicopters to monitor road conditions in real-time. “I see it’s more modern, plus with drones and helicopters monitoring congestion points, allowing officers to arrive at those points as quickly as possible,” added Rico. Meanwhile, another traveller named Abel, also journeying from Jakarta to Bandung, assessed the traffic engineering as very helpful in managing vehicle flow. “This traffic engineering greatly assists the exodus journey,” stated Abel. In addition to traffic engineering, the presence of service posts is also felt to be beneficial by travellers. These facilities are seen as capable of providing quick responses to public needs during the trip. “It definitely helps the public wanting to go to Java, especially those heading elsewhere for the exodus, because with security posts, responses are quicker,” explained Abel. At the end of his statement, the traveller also appreciated the government and police apparatus tasked with securing this year’s Eid exodus. “Thank you to President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran, the National Police Chief, and all personnel on duty for securing Lebaran this year 2026,” he concluded.
