Contractors banned for bad work

TANGERANG: The Tangerang administration has blacklisted three
of 15 contractors that recently completed development projects in
the municipality, citing their unsatisfactory work.

"The three are regarded as bad contractors ... they will no
longer be entrusted to do any projects in the municipality,"
Istiarso Soerjo, the assistant for development affairs, said on
Monday.

He identified the three contractors as CV Indah Lestari, which
renovated SD 7 elementary school in Kunciran, PT Darma Puri
Bakti, which built elementary schools SD 1 and SD 8 in Cipondoh,
and PT Listra Persada, which renovated SMA 5 high school.

Istiarso said the contractors only completed 60 percent of the
work, after the deadline, and the "quality was below acceptable
standards".

In an unscheduled visit last month, Mayor Wahidin Halim found
work on the schools was not being done in accordance with the
contracts and ordered officials to take action against the
contractors. -- JP
