Contraceptive stocks adequate

JAMBI: The government here has stocks of both injectable and oral pill contraceptives sufficient to last until April 1999, according to State Minister of Population/Head of the National Family Planning Coordinating Board (BKKBN) Ida Bagus Oka.

"It is not true that stocks are running out, as reported in the media recently," the minister said here on Monday, Antara reported.

The government is determined to maintain adequate stocks of contraceptives in order to make the family planning program a success, despite the fact that most raw materials in their manufacture are imported.

He added that large sums of foreign aid for the procurement of contraceptives has been pledged, some of which has already been received.
