Container Traffic Surges 37.5% Ahead of Eid, IPC TPK on 24/7 Alert
PT IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK) has assured full operational readiness by providing 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week (24/7) loading and unloading services across all terminals. This initiative by the subsidiary of PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas subholding aims to anticipate the surge in container traffic ahead of Idul Fitri while supporting government policies on restricting goods transport during the mudik period. National logistics activity has shown significant increases, particularly in the domestic segment entering the third week of Ramadan. At the Domestic Container Terminal 2 (TP2), the surge in activity has reached around 37.5% compared to the previous week. IPC TPK Corporate Secretary Pramestie Wulandary emphasised that the container traffic surge has been anticipated through strengthened integrated and responsive operational systems. “We fully support the government’s policies on regulating goods transport restrictions during the mudik period. To that end, IPC TPK ensures that loading and unloading services continue to operate optimally on a 24/7 basis, with intensive monitoring support and operational personnel readiness across all lines,” Pramestie stated in a written release on Wednesday (18/3/2026). To maintain smooth logistics flow and prevent port congestion, IPC TPK has implemented several strategic mitigation measures. These efforts include optimising gate pass services, utilising the Line 2 stacking yard as a buffer for Line 1, and collaborating with nearby container depots around Tanjung Priok. Additionally, the company has strengthened traffic management and safety control functions by placing Port Facility Security Officers (PFSO) at congestion-prone points. In line with the planned imposition of goods transport restrictions from 13 to 29 March, IPC TPK projects an acceleration of delivery activities by customers before the period begins. Therefore, service users are urged to expedite the retrieval of containers and move them to depots around North Jakarta to avoid potential build-up after Eid. “Accelerating deliveries before the restriction period is key to maintaining supply chain smoothness. With synergy between terminal operators, regulators, and service users, we are optimistic that the national logistics flow will remain well-managed during the Eid period,” Pramestie concluded. IPC TPK is also continuing to strengthen coordination with the Harbourmaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP), related agencies, and shipping companies to ensure synchronisation of ship arrival schedules and smooth container distribution across all terminals.
