Container Flow Grows 7.4% Through May 2026

Container flow at the Panjang Container Terminal has shown a positive trend through May 2026. PT IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK) recorded throughput of 50,287 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) from January to May 2026. This figure represents a 7.40% increase compared to the same period last year, which reached 46,824 TEUs. Senior Manager of the Corporate Secretariat at IPC TPK, Daniel Setiawan, said the achievement reflects growth in goods flow activity in line with rising distribution and trade needs in the Lampung region and its surroundings. “The throughput growth in the Panjang Area, which is above the average growth of IPC TPK nationally, demonstrates the terminal’s strategic role in supporting the smooth flow of logistics and trade in the Lampung region,” Daniel said in an official statement on Thursday (25/6). He explained that the increase in throughput was mainly supported by export growth of several key commodities. Tapioca starch recorded the highest increase of 267.37% compared to the same period the previous year. In addition, frozen shrimp exports grew 28.90%, pineapples increased 22.93%, and refined glycerine rose 21.90%. Growth was also seen in both domestic and international container flows. Through May 2026, domestic throughput reached 28,163 TEUs, an annual increase of 10.04%. Meanwhile, international throughput was recorded at 22,124 TEUs, growing 4.21% compared to the same period last year. The positive performance is in line with trade trends in Lampung Province. Data from the Lampung Province Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows the region’s export value in April 2026 reached US$504.59 million, soaring 43.29% compared to April 2025. Meanwhile, the import value was recorded at US$172.40 million, an annual increase of 51.56%. This growth in trade activity has further boosted logistics flows and container movement through the Panjang Container Terminal. Nationally, the Panjang Area’s performance contributed to IPC TPK’s container traffic growth. Through May 2026, IPC TPK recorded throughput of 1.49 million TEUs, an increase of 6.1% compared to the same period the previous year. With growth of 7.4%, the Panjang Area became the area with the second-highest throughput growth within IPC TPK. As the main container terminal in Lampung Province, IPC TPK Panjang continues to strengthen operational services through improved coordination with various stakeholders, from shipping companies to service users. These efforts are made to maintain service stability amid increasing logistics and trade activity.
