Container Fire at NPCT1 Quickly Extinguished, No Casualties Reported

New Priok Container Terminal One (NPCT1) successfully managed a fire involving several dangerous goods containers in one of the terminal areas on Monday (21/09/2026). The incident was detected at 15:28 WIB, and the flames were extinguished by 16:27 WIB. There were no fatalities or injuries reported during the incident.

Immediately after the incident was identified, the NPCT1 team implemented emergency response procedures, prioritising personnel safety and the securing of the affected area. The response involved deploying firefighting facilities and coordinating with relevant parties to control the situation on the ground.

NPCT1 Corporate Planning Manager, Christine Margaretha Manasseh, stated that personnel safety and area security were the primary priorities from the start of the response.

“As soon as the incident was known, our team immediately executed emergency response procedures, secured the affected area, and coordinated with relevant parties during the extinguishing process. Our main focus was to ensure the situation could be controlled while prioritising the safety of personnel and the security of the terminal area,” said Christine.

After the fire was successfully extinguished, officers continued with the cooling down process, securing, and monitoring the affected area to ensure conditions remained safe and to prevent the potential for any re-ignition.

As the situation has been brought under control, NPCT1 has begun the gradual recovery of operational activities. This recovery is being conducted with careful consideration of field inspections to ensure that all safety and security aspects are met before the operational area is returned to use.

“We are restoring operational activities gradually. The entire process is being carried out with great caution, considering the field conditions, as the safety and security of personnel remains our priority in every stage of the recovery,” Christine added.
