Consumers Face Additional Rp 10 Million Charge, Jaecoo Explains J5 EV Pricing Scheme
WUHU, KOMPAS.com – The issue of price increases upon delivery of the Jaecoo J5 has recently been widely discussed on social media. Several buyers have claimed they were asked to pay an additional fee of around Rp 10 million when the unit was about to be delivered, even though they had already placed an order.
In response, Jaecoo Indonesia has provided an explanation regarding the pricing scheme applied from the initial booking stage.
Head of Marketing for Jaecoo Indonesia, Mohammad Ilham Pratama, stated that the prices offered from the beginning were non-binding, including when consumers signed the Vehicle Order Letter (SPK).
“Then in 2026, the price is Rp 299,900,000 + Rp 10,000,000 for the price lock warranty, as there was no decision on incentives yet. And now the price is Rp 309,000,000. These prices all include the price lock warranty, and they are non-binding. This includes when signing the SPK. So, consumers can decide immediately to purchase the J5 EV,” he added.
He explained that the additional fee that arose is related to the price lock warranty scheme, which was offered to consumers to secure the price amid uncertainties regarding electric vehicle incentives.
In the initial period, consumers who booked in 2025 could get a price of Rp 299.9 million with an additional Rp 8 million for the price locking scheme. Meanwhile, in 2026, the price lock warranty fee increased to Rp 10 million.
As time progressed and with certainty on the latest price, Jaecoo now sets the official J5 EV price at Rp 309.9 million. Thus, the price lock warranty scheme is no longer applied.
With this scheme, Jaecoo emphasises that consumers have been informed from the start that prices are non-binding. This is also related to the dynamics of electric vehicle incentive policies that are still changing.
Nevertheless, this situation has drawn attention from consumers, particularly regarding price transparency from the booking stage to unit delivery.
