Consul's house tightly guarded

BANDUNG: A team of Bandung police personnel were tightly guarding the residence of Polish honorary consul Mariola Budiman on Saturday, following an armed robbery at the house a day earlier. The 10-strong police personnel were deployed to the house to give a sense of security to the consul's family, who were still shocked by the armed robbery, said Adj. Sr. Comr. Achmad Abdi, chief of West Java's police detectives.

It was not clear how long the police intended to stay at the consul's house.

The five robbers, armed with a pistol and a sword, got away with jewelry and a luxury car during the robbery at 2 p.m. on Friday. The house is located in upmarket Dago, some 20 kilometers north of downtown Bandung. -- JP
