Construction Worker Sentenced to 3.5 Years for Molesting Children in Ubud Public Baths

A construction worker has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison for committing a lewd act in front of two children at a public bathing site in Ubud, Gianyar, Bali. The Gianyar District Court found Wahid Nursya’i guilty of violating Article 36 of Law Number 44 of 2008 on Pornography. “The defendant’s actions have caused unrest among the children and their parents,” said presiding judge Made Adicandra Purnawan during the verdict hearing on Monday. The sentence was lower than the five-year prison term demanded by prosecutors. The incident occurred at the Pura Tirta Tawar public baths on 31 January 2026, when the location was quiet. A mother, her child, and a nephew were preparing to bathe when Wahid arrived and began loitering near the changing room. The mother became suspicious, and her fears were confirmed when one of the children cried out, revealing that the man had been exposing and playing with his genitals in front of them. The mother confronted Wahid, who initially denied the act before being reported to the police. The court heard that the incident caused psychological trauma to both young victims and left their parents deeply distressed.
