Construction Worker in Gianyar Faces 12-Year Prison Sentence for Child Rape
Budi Hermanto, alias BH, has been charged with 12 years imprisonment in a rape case involving an underage girl with initials D. The 42-year-old construction worker appeared before the Gianyar District Court.
“We are demanding 12 years imprisonment. According to us, he has been proven to have violated Article 473 paragraph 2 letter b of the new Criminal Code,” said Public Prosecutor Dayu Dian following the hearing at Gianyar District Court on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
Dian explained that during the trial, evidence emerged of coercion used by Budi when committing the crime. As a result of the incident, the victim, who was only 15 years old, suffered severe depression.
“There was violence. The victim’s mental state was severely affected,” said Dian.
Dian stated that the incident occurred on 10 October 2025 at approximately 09:30 WITA at a worker’s shelter at a hotel construction site in Banjar Kelod Belumbang, Kenderan Village, Tegallalang District.
At that time, the victim was resting in the worker’s shelter because she was ill. Budi then approached the victim and pretended to check on her condition.
“Budi entered the victim’s room. His excuse was to check on the victim who was unwell,” she said.
According to Dian, the victim knew Budi because her parents also worked at the same construction project.
“The victim was aware of Budi because her parents also worked at the same project,” she added.
Inside the shelter, Budi then raped the victim. The victim attempted to resist and screamed during the incident. However, because she was ill, the victim could not do much.
“The victim tried to resist. But due to fear, the victim could not do anything,” said Dian.
The incident became known to the victim’s parents shortly after it occurred. Budi, a man with 15 children, was subsequently reported to police by the victim’s parents.
