Construction Worker Digging House Foundation in Lembang Discovers Active Mortar

An object suspected to be a mortar round was discovered in the yard of a resident’s house in Kampung Nyampay, RT 03, RW 15, Langensari Village, Lembang District, West Bandung Regency, on Saturday (25/7/2026). The object is believed to be an active munition. “We received a report about a mortar round in a resident’s yard, and it is still active,” said Lembang Police Chief AKP Dana Suhenda when confirmed on Monday (27/7/2026). Based on the inspection and witness statements, the ammunition was found in the yard of a house owned by Iis Cucu Cahyati (53) at around 09:00 WIB. It was first discovered by a construction worker who was digging the foundation for a terrace at the house. “The chronology is that the homeowner wanted to build a house and was digging for the foundation. While digging, a hard object was found, and upon digging deeper, an unexploded mortar round was discovered,” Dana explained.
