Heavy rainfall caused construction materials from a building development project to clog the drainage system in Tamansari, Bogor, West Java. Water flow and boulders from the construction site subsequently overflowed, inundating the main road and residents’ homes.

“Heavy rainfall with high intensity, combined with drainage channels being blocked by soil and rock materials from the building construction that were swept along by rainwater, resulted in water overflowing onto the road surface and residential areas,” said M Adam Hamdani, head of Emergency and Logistics at Bogor Regency’s Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), on Tuesday (10 March 2026).

Video recordings of the flooding on Jalan Raya Ciapus in Tamansari District circulated and went viral on social media. The footage showed brown-coloured water flowing rapidly along the road.

In the viral video, small gravel and pebbles were scattered across the road. The stones appeared to be swept by the current into residential areas.

Adam stated that the incident captured in the viral video occurred during heavy rainfall around 16:00 WIB (Western Indonesia Time). According to Adam, the floodwaters carried rock and gravel materials from the building construction project, scattering them across the road and residents’ homes.

“(The impact was) Jalan Raya Ciapus experienced overflow flooding reaching 30 centimetres depth, carrying rock and soil materials from the building development project located at the site. Additionally, two residential units were affected by the flooding,” Adam said.

“Based on preliminary field analysis, the flooding was caused by the narrowing and blockage of the drainage channel, as a result of rock materials from the building construction located near the flood point,” he added.

Adam further stated that the overflow flooding had subsided shortly after the rain stopped. Soil and gravel materials scattered across the road had been cleaned up by personnel with assistance from local residents.

“Currently, the flooding has receded and flood debris has been cleaned by residents working together in a spirit of mutual cooperation,” Adam said.
