Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi has stated that the construction of a second platform at JIS Station is targeted for completion within a maximum of one year to improve train services and facilitate public access to North Jakarta. Speaking to the media in Jakarta on Friday evening, Dudy acknowledged that JIS Station currently has only one platform, and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has committed to building the second platform within a year at most. “JIS Station indeed only has one platform. We are very grateful to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government for their very swift response. Although there is only one now, their commitment is to build two platforms within a maximum of one year,” the minister said. He believes the target can be realised even sooner, given the provincial government’s rapid response to the construction of JIS Station from the planning stage through to its inauguration. “In line with the provincial government’s commitment, and I believe it, during the last Lebaran holiday, if I am not mistaken, I spoke with the Governor and it can be realised quite quickly,” the minister stated. “He asked for a year, but I am confident the Governor, God willing, can realise it before one year, seeing what he has done with the construction of the current station,” he added. According to Dudy, the presence of the newly inaugurated JIS Station, a joint effort with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, is expected to become a transport hub that makes it easier for the public to reach Jakarta International Stadium and the Ancol tourist area. He said the station encourages the public to switch to using public transport because its location is very close to JIS Stadium, making journeys more practical, comfortable, and affordable. Additionally, the Ancol management will provide feeder services from JIS Station to Dunia Fantasi, improving intermodal connectivity and smoothing public mobility in the area. “So the connectivity facilities there can be provided by the DKI Provincial Government or Ancol to facilitate public mobility around the area,” he said. The minister added that train operations will also be adjusted to meet demand, especially during events or matches at JIS, to ensure the public can easily use public transport. According to him, train operating hours will be extended when there are major events at JIS so that all visitors have adequate transport services to travel to and from the venue. “Currently, services close at 9.30 p.m. When there is an event, we will certainly extend the operating hours to accommodate the public who will use the train to the event location,” the minister said. Previously, the Transport Minister together with the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, inaugurated the Jakarta International Stadium Railway Station in Sunter, North Jakarta, on Monday.
