Construction of SDN Cipete Utara 01 Targeted for Completion by September 2026

The construction of the new SDN Cipete Utara 01 building in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, is now targeted for completion by September 2026, following significant delays from the original schedule.

“The plan is for it to be finished by September,” said Sarwoko, Head of the South Jakarta Region II Education Sub-Department, on Tuesday. He confirmed that teaching and learning activities are continuing despite the ongoing construction, with students currently accommodated at SD BaPem.

The project, which was initially expected to be completed within six months, has now been underway for almost a year without being finished. The delay has forced students to study at another school.

Local resident Iin Solihin, 48, stated that the six-month target was initially communicated by workers and contractors involved in the project. “They said this project was only supposed to take six months. It had to be finished in six months, that’s what I heard from insiders,” Iin said.

According to Iin, construction was halted for approximately four months because many workers stopped working after their wages went unpaid. He witnessed the project activity slowly grind to a halt, with the workforce dwindling from hundreds of workers to almost no activity at all.

As a result of the unfinished construction, the teaching and learning process was relocated to SD BaPem, which is 1.6 kilometres away from SDN Cipete Utara 01. Iin believes this situation has prevented learning from being optimal, as students must share space and class schedules. “The building should have been in use by this new school year. But now, the children are still studying at another school. Some start at one in the afternoon, and sometimes they are sent home after just one subject because the space is limited,” Iin explained.
