The construction of Phase II of the Merah Putih Presisi Bridge in Riau Province has officially begun. To kick off the construction, the Riau Police released 120 personnel from the Emergency Bridge Task Force to accelerate the infrastructure project.

A total of 120 personnel from the Merah Putih Presisi Emergency Bridge Task Force were released by Deputy Chief of Riau Police, Brigjen Hengki Haryadi, attended by several principal officials (PJU) at the Riau Police Headquarters, on Wednesday (15/4/2026). Brigjen Hengki stated that this task force represents the Indonesian National Police’s commitment to supporting the acceleration of government programmes aimed at opening access and connectivity for people in remote areas.

In his speech, Brigjen Hengki conveyed that the bridge plays a vital role not only as access for people in remote areas but also in helping the economic growth of surrounding communities.

“Therefore, every form of disruption or obstacle to the security of this strategic project must be handled seriously, professionally, and measurably,” said Brigjen Hengki.

A total of 120 personnel are involved in carrying out integrated and professional duties in the field. This force consists of 70 personnel from Sat Brimob, 30 personnel from Riau Police, and 20 personnel from the Directorate of Polairud of Riau Police.

The implementation of the construction and renovation of Phase II of the Merah Putih Presisi Bridge covers a total of 83 bridges to be worked on in stages over two waves. The first wave involves 44 bridges, to be carried out from 15 April to 15 May 2026, followed by the second wave of 39 bridges from 16 May to 16 June 2026.

“This division shows that the construction process is carried out in a planned and sustainable manner. Therefore, the security pattern we implement must be able to adapt to the dynamics at each stage of the work, as well as anticipate any potential vulnerabilities that may arise in the field,” he explained.

To start the Phase II bridge construction process, Hengki gave several directives to the personnel. First, personnel are asked to prioritise the safety of lives in every movement.

“Second, maintain professionalism and integrity as members of the Indonesian National Police. Third, build solid communication and coordination among elements in the field. Fourth, maintain physical and mental condition to always be ready in any situation. And fifth, maintain harmonious relations with the surrounding community at the project location,” he said.

In closing his speech, he hoped that all personnel of the Merah Putih Presisi Emergency Bridge Task Force Phase 2 of Riau Police could carry out this mandate with full responsibility, loyalty, and high dedication.

“Show the community and the nation that Riau Police is capable and ready in maintaining security and supporting regional development. I believe in the success of your duties,” he concluded.
