The government is currently undertaking the construction of the People’s School in Pandeglang Regency, with progress reaching approximately 67.71 per cent. Banten Governor Andra Soni stated that the school building in Koranji Village, Cadasari District, is scheduled to be operational by July.

‘The progress is in line with our targets. The operational target is July,’ Andra Soni said in a statement on Tuesday (9/6/2026). During a recent visit to the construction site, the Governor noted that several main buildings have entered the roofing stage, allowing architectural work and interior finishing to be accelerated.

He emphasised that the People’s School represents an opportunity for children from low-income families to obtain decent and quality education. ‘This programme is one of President Prabowo Subianto’s priorities in expanding educational access for the underprivileged,’ he added.

For the 2026/2027 academic year, the Pandeglang People’s School is expected to accommodate approximately 500 students from various regions across Banten, with priority given to residents of Pandeglang Regency. The facilities being developed are comprehensive, including educational buildings, dormitories, a multipurpose hall, a kitchen, a canteen, a place of worship, and other supporting infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Nabil Muhammad from the Strategic Infrastructure Implementation Unit of the Ministry of Public Works stated that the construction progress of the People’s School in Lebak Regency has also reached 66.42 per cent. ‘For Pandeglang, it is at 67.71 per cent,’ he noted. He emphasised that construction is being accelerated through the addition of labour, equipment, and materials, alongside parallel architectural works. His office remains optimistic that all works, including local access roads, will be completed by the end of June and functional by July 2026.
