Sigi (ANTARA) - The Sigi Regency government in Central Sulawesi (Sulteng) has stated that the construction process for Merah Putih Village Cooperative (Kopdes) buildings in the area has reached 46 outlets.

The Head of the Cooperatives and UMKM Division of the Sigi Regency Cooperatives Office, Arifin, said that two Merah Putih Kopdes have completed their construction phase, namely in Lolu Village, Sigi Biromaru Sub-district, and Maku Village, Dolo Sub-district.

He explained that as of now, there are six villages still facing obstacles in the construction of Merah Putih Kopdes outlets, including Tongoa, Anca, Luku, Karawana, Pulu, and Padende villages.

“The obstacles vary, such as land sizes not meeting the requirements, needing to be painted and fenced, sloping and less strategic land, as well as land located next to rivers,” he said.

He mentioned that the 46 Merah Putih Kopdes are spread across 13 sub-districts in Sigi Regency, namely Sigi Biromaru, Palolo, Gumbasa, Nokilalaki, Tanambulava, Lindu, South Kulawi, Kulawi, Dolo, West Dolo, South Dolo, Kinovaro, and Marawola.

“Two villages have 100 percent completed construction, namely Lolu and Maku villages,” he stated.

According to him, the local government continues to update the progress of the Merah Putih Kopdes construction at the beginning of each month.

The total number of Merah Putih Village Cooperatives in Sigi Regency is 164 cooperatives that have been established and legally incorporated.

In the future, Merah Putih Kopdes are expected to become the centre of village economies, playing a role in strengthening community self-reliance and expanding business access for UMKM actors.
