Construction of Dompu feed mill delayed due to changes in funding scheme
Dompu (ANTARA) - The plan to construct a livestock feed mill in Dompu Regency, West Nusa and Tenggara, is experiencing delays due to changes in policy regarding the funding scheme for the integrated chicken downstreaming (HAT) project.
The Head of the Dompu Regency Livestock and Animal Health Service, Ilham, stated that the local government is still awaiting certainty from the central government regarding the financing scheme following policy changes at the national level.
“There is indeed a slight delay because there has been a change in the funding policy. We are still awaiting the latest decision from the central government,” Ilham told ANTARA on Friday.
According to him, the construction of the feed mill is still targeted to begin realisation in 2026. If the work is not completed by the end of the year, implementation will continue in early 2027.
“If it is not completed this year, the construction is targeted to continue until early 2027,” he said.
Dompu is one of the regions on Sumbawa Island that has been allocated facilities under the HAT programme. From the various components designed within this ecosystem, Dompu has been assigned the construction of a feed mill, considering the potential of maize as the primary raw material.
Under this scheme, the local government is responsible for preparing the land and supporting the project’s connectivity with raw material potential and local farmers. The construction of the facility falls under the authority of the central government through the synergy of the Ministry of Agriculture and relevant State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN).
The HAT programme is designed to build an integrated chicken business chain from upstream to downstream, covering breeding, feed production, cultivation, processing, and marketing. The Ministry of Agriculture stated that this integration aims to strengthen supply chain efficiency and the livestock ecosystem.
For Dompu, the presence of the feed mill is expected to strengthen the link between the agricultural and livestock sectors through the utilisation of maize as an industrial raw material.
In addition to shortening the feed supply chain, the facility has the potential to increase the added value of maize commodities while strengthening the feed supply for chicken business development on Sumbawa Island.
The construction of the Dompu feed mill was previously allocated as part of a livestock downstreaming programme worth approximately Rp1.7 trillion for 2026.
The local government stated that the project’s realisation remains subject to a final decision from the central government regarding its implementation and financing.
