Construction of 218 Bridges in 2.5 Months Shows Government Presence, Prabowo States
President Prabowo Subianto has expressed his gratitude and appreciation to his cabinet ministers and state officials who have worked diligently to realise his vision of improving public access, including the rapid construction of bridges.
He stated that within 2.5 months since he issued orders to accelerate bridge construction across various regions of Indonesia, a total of 218 bridges have been completed. These hundreds of bridges were officially inaugurated on 9 March 2026.
“This demonstrates a swift and responsive reaction showing government presence,” Prabowo said in his address during a Full Cabinet Session at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday, 13 January 2026.
He described the bridge construction programme as evidence of the alertness and hard work of state apparatus officials, particularly in physical infrastructure to assist the public, especially communities affected by disasters in North Sumatra, Aceh, West Sumatra, South Kalimantan, and several locations in Java that suffered infrastructure damage.
“It also demonstrates alertness, hard work, and great physical sacrifice, with some even losing their lives and wellbeing whilst helping people in disaster-affected areas,” he explained.
