Construction of 110 Precision Red and White Bridges Opens Access in Riau Region
A total of 110 Precision Red and White Bridges have been built across various regions of Riau Province to open access for communities, particularly in areas with limited infrastructure. The construction was part of the inauguration of 3,395 bridges and 3,000 clean water sources built by the Indonesian Military and National Police across Indonesia on Thursday (13/8/2026).
President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the construction virtually from the State Palace. On the occasion, the President commended the National Police for building and renovating bridges down to the village and remote area level. Nationally, the National Police has built and renovated 895 Precision Red and White Bridges. According to the President, this infrastructure development is a form of state presence whose benefits can be directly felt by the community. The President also assessed that development in remote areas needs attention so that people living far from activity centres still obtain access to infrastructure and a decent quality of life.
During the inauguration series, the President greeted several Regional Police commands via video conference, including from the location of the Precision Red and White Bridge in Gobah Village, Kampar Regency. Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan reported that the construction of 110 Precision Red and White Bridges was carried out through collaboration between the Riau Regional Police and the community. He stated this was a follow-up to the President’s directive for the state’s presence to provide direct benefits to the people.
“Following up on the President’s directive for every corner of the state to work to bring real benefits to the community, we in Riau are trying to translate that directive through a joint effort,” Herry told the President. He said the construction of the 110 bridges is spread across various areas of Riau with differing access conditions. “We, the Riau Regional Police together with the community, made and built 110 Precision Red and White Bridges,” he said.
The benefits of the bridge construction are also felt by the residents of Gobah Village, including students. In a dialogue with the President, Raisa Adelia, a 13-year-old student from Gobah Village, recounted the condition of the bridge before it was repaired. “Previously, our bridge was badly damaged and full of holes. Now, we no longer struggle to go to school because the bridge is good. Thank you, Mr. President, long life and stay healthy,” she said.
In addition to the bridge construction, Herry reported on the implementation of the Precision Red and White Expedition ahead of the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence. The programme is aimed at reaching communities in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions that still have limited access in Riau. The expedition also includes mangrove planting and restoration activities in coastal areas as an effort to strengthen natural protection for areas affected by abrasion. “In this activity, we also carry out mangrove planting and restoration as an effort to strengthen the natural fortress of coastal areas affected by abrasion,” Herry said.
