Constitutional Court to Develop Digital Services for Modern Judiciary

Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) Suhartoyo has stated that the institution is continuing to improve its services and governance by developing a digital transformation towards a modern judiciary. Speaking at the 23rd anniversary of the MK in Jakarta on Thursday, he said, “Going forward, the Court will build a digital constitutional court that is modern, independent, with integrity, and trustworthy.”

According to Suhartoyo, the ongoing digital transformation aims to make justice increasingly accessible to the public. He noted that the use of technology and artificial intelligence must be carried out responsibly, strengthening system security and the quality of human resources. “However, behind all these improvements, the most decisive factor is the people who run it,” he added.

Suhartoyo reported that the MK has received support from all its staff in implementing judicial services that provide easy access for parties in a transparent, accountable, and modern manner. He cited that out of 304 applications received up to mid-August 2026, 85 per cent had been submitted online.

He further stated that the MK aims for 100 per cent digitalisation of its services in the future. The digitalisation is intended not only to facilitate access to justice for the public but also to protect the judicial system, ensuring the accountability and confidentiality of documents. “A judicial body must always coexist with matters that are confidential in nature. Therefore, it must certainly go hand in hand with technology that will be implemented by the Constitutional Court regarding this digital constitutional court,” Suhartoyo explained. He added that the MK will collaborate with the Ministry of Communication and Digital to realise this digital court.
