Constitutional Court Justice Liliek Prisbawono Adi Begins Sessions at MK
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Liliek Prisbawono Adi began sessions as a constitutional court justice at the Constitutional Court (MK) on Monday, after taking his oath of office before President Prabowo Subianto at the State Palace in Jakarta on 6 April 2026.
The justice, originating from the Supreme Court (MA), is tasked with replacing Constitutional Court Justice Anwar Usman, who entered retirement on 6 April 2026.
The session attended by Liliek was chaired by MK Chief Justice Suhartoyo and commenced directly without introducing the presence of the new constitutional court justice.
However, Liliek’s presence was evident from the MK camera footage. The justice, who stands at 187 cm tall, sat at the far end of the right side.
All nine constitutional court justices were present to preside over the session, which had the agenda of seeking information from the House of Representatives (DPR RI) regarding a petition for judicial review of the Criminal Code Law (KUHP).
A total of six petitions were heard simultaneously, namely cases Number 275, 280, 282/PUU-XXIII/2025; Number 26, 27, and 29/PUU-XXIV/2026, which took place at 10:36 WIB.
In the session, Liliek had not yet provided his response to the material examination of the petition. Responses were only given by Constitutional Court Justices Arsul Sani and Saldi Isra.
On the same day, in the afternoon, the MK held a retirement ceremony for Constitutional Court Justice Anwar Usman and a welcoming event for two new constitutional court justices, Liliek Prisbawono Adi and Adies Kadir.
Liliek was appointed as a constitutional court justice based on Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 36/P of 2026 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of Constitutional Court Justices, proposed by the Supreme Court.
He was inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto at the State Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (6/4).
The Head of the MK Public Relations and Protocol Bureau, Pan Mohamad Faiz, in a statement in Jakarta on Monday, said that the retirement ceremony and welcoming of the constitutional court justices was scheduled to take place at 16:00 WIB.
“The process was held in the presence of the MK Chief Justice and all constitutional court justices,” Faiz stated.
