The Environmental Agency (DLH) of Bantul Regency announced that the Cakra Energi Lestari consortium for the Greater Yogyakarta area, consisting of PT Pertamina Power Indonesia (Pertamina NRE), Tianjin TEDA, and CITICC, began a site survey at the planned PSEL location in the Piyungan landfill area on Wednesday. Head of DLH Bantul, Bambang Purwadi Nugroho, stated that the meeting was a site survey of the Piyungan TPA location. He noted that Danantara expects the waste-to-energy programme to become a priority project to be realised immediately in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, starting with land maturation for the PSEL from the end of August 2026. He explained that the meeting principally discussed accelerating the preparation of the Detailed Engineering Design (DED) for construction, public outreach, finalising the waste supply cooperation agreement, and calculating local workforce recruitment needs. The purpose of the field visit was to ascertain and coordinate steps to expedite activities that have been and will be undertaken by the DIY Regional Government, Yogyakarta City Government, Bantul Regency Government, and Sleman Regency Government. The field visit was conducted at the proposed PSEL construction site in Bawuran, Piyungan, to ensure land readiness.
