Consistent Oversight of Village Funds Earns Prosecutor Apsari the Leading Women Awards 2026

The Head of the Purwakarta District Prosecutor’s Office (Kajari) in West Java, Apsari Dewi, has received the award in the Outstanding Prosecutorial Leader in Public Accountability category at the CNN Indonesia Leading Women Awards 2026.

The award was given as recognition of her consistency in strengthening the oversight of village funds, while also promoting more transparent government governance.

In addition, through various digital innovations and cross-sector collaborations, Apsari is deemed to have successfully increased accountability and public trust in law enforcement institutions.

In her statement, Apsari emphasised that the award is not just for her personally, but is dedicated to all female prosecutors in Indonesia.

“I want to express my thanks for the trust and recognition given to us female prosecutors throughout the Republic of Indonesia, so this award I present to all female prosecutors in Indonesia,” said Apsari, quoted on Wednesday (6/5).

She also acknowledged that the challenges as a law enforcer are not light. In addition to demands for professionalism, this profession is often faced with stigma that requires officials to have resilience, both physically and mentally.

Nevertheless, Apsari views the award as proof that women can occupy strategic positions while demonstrating resilience in carrying out their duties.

“This award proves that women can be in tough and strategic positions. Women with empathy and humanity can create works and contribute to the country. So this is an extraordinary night,” she said.

Apsari began her career as a Public Prosecutor from 2000 to 2020. Her career in the legal field is inseparable from her educational background. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Udayana University in 2000.

Apsari then continued her master’s studies in law at the University of Melbourne, Australia, from 2002 to 2003. She obtained a PhD from the same university in 2018, specialising in international extradition.

Alongside Apsari, two other female prosecutors also received awards at the Leading Women Awards 2026. They are the Prosecutorial Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok, Kingdom of Thailand, Olivia Sembiring, and the Prosecutorial/Legal Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore, Mahayu Dian Suryandari.
