Consistent in Championing Green Energy Issues, Eddy Soeparno Receives KWP Award 2026
Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI from the National Mandate Party (PAN) faction, Eddy Soeparno, received the Koordinatoriat Wartawan Parlemen (KWP) Award 2026 for his dedication to overseeing the national energy transition. This award was presented by KWP as a form of appreciation for Eddy’s consistency and commitment in guiding energy transition policies that are pro-people and sustainable. The KWP judging panel assessed that Eddy has successfully positioned himself as a bridge between global ambitions regarding net zero emissions (NZE) and the reality of Indonesia’s domestic energy needs. In response to the award, Eddy expressed his gratitude and appreciation to KWP for helping to make the energy transition one of the important issues that impact society. “Since serving as chairman of Commission VII of the DPR RI from 2019-2024, we have consistently pushed for accelerating the energy transition, electrification, and the development of bioenergy. Indonesia’s energy transition must focus on reducing carbon emissions in the electricity, industry, and transportation sectors, while creating green industries and green jobs,” said Eddy in his statement on Sunday (19/4/2026). Eddy emphasised that Indonesia possesses abundant domestic renewable energy sources that can be utilised to reduce dependence on imported energy sources and be more environmentally friendly. “It is time for Indonesia to become a major player in the global green energy map with strong energy resilience in line with President Prabowo’s vision and commitments,” stated the Doctor of Political Science from UI. “I dedicate this award to the advocates of energy transition and climate change who continue to voice the importance of reducing carbon emissions and energy independence for Indonesia,” he concluded.
