Conservation Institution Declares Readiness to Manage Bandung Zoo
BANDUNG - The Faunaland conservation institution has stated its readiness to participate in the selection process for a partnership in the utilisation and management of Bandung Zoo. They claim they will strive to manage Bandung Zoo in a more modern, animal-friendly, educational, and close-to-the-community manner for the city of Bandung.
Danny Gunalen, CEO of Faunaland Indonesia, said that as the manager of Faunaland Ancol Jakarta and Faunaland Buperta Cibubur, Faunaland has experience in developing conservation areas located in the midst of urban community activities. He assessed that this experience is relevant to the character of Bandung Zoo, which has a strategic position in the city centre and is part of the interactive space for Bandung’s community.
He stated that Faunaland has been developing an urban conservation concept integrated with public spaces, family education, and urban community activities. This approach allows the conservation institution not only to become a recreational destination but also a space for learning about the environment that is more open, comfortable, and close to the daily lives of the community.
“Bandung has the character of a creative, green city that is very close to community activities and young families. We see that Bandung Zoo has great potential to develop into an urban conservation space that is not only healthy for animals but also becomes an educational space and a living green area for the community,” he said in an official statement received on Saturday (9/5/2026).
Danny said that public attention to animal welfare is currently increasing. He assessed that the community now not only views conservation institutions as recreational places but also pays attention to the quality of habitats, care patterns, and animal health.
He assessed that the future management of Bandung Zoo needs to prioritise the quality of animal welfare, strengthening conservation facilities, better habitat arrangements, and professional governance that can build sustainable public trust.
