Bontang (ANTARA) - The conservation areas of Kutai National Park (TNK), namely Sangkima Jungle Park and Bontang Mangrove Park (BMP) in East Kalimantan (Kaltim), will be open during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday period. “We are ensuring that Kutai National Park is ready to welcome visitors who wish to enjoy the Eid al-Fitr holiday with an atmosphere of environmental preservation,” said the Head of the National Park Management Section (SPTN) for Region I Sangatta, Budi Isnaini, in Bontang on Monday. Visitors can also tackle challenges by traversing a 5-kilometre exploration trail in the Sangkima Jungle Park area. “Supporting facilities, such as the suspension bridge over the Sangkima River and the treehouse area, are ready to provide memorable nature adventure experiences,” Budi stated. The management of TNK continues to adhere firmly to conservation principles through the implementation of a zoning system to protect endemic wildlife such as orangutans. In addition to the lowland forest areas, travellers can also visit the Bontang Mangrove Park area, which offers a 279-hectare coastal forest. “Visitors are invited to relax by crossing the 2.15-kilometre ulin wood bridge that cuts through the lush natural mangrove forest area,” Budi said. Budi explained that this coastal conservation destination serves as a safe protective home for herds of proboscis monkeys, long-tailed macaques, and various exotic bird species. The opening of this conservation forest during the Eid al-Fitr period not only strengthens environmental education but also drives the wheels of the local economy. “We ask visitors to continue maintaining the cleanliness of the forest and complying with all conservation rules while enjoying the Eid holiday with their families,” Budi advised.
