Conscious Human Resources: Asset or Burden?
Is the dream of making Indonesia Emas 2045 with its various advantages still widely questioned? Or is it because lately, a lot of pessimistic froth has emerged in online conversations? Is the growing pessimism merely a pseudo-reality?
These pessimistic questions may indeed be widespread. However, as a dream and grand vision, as well as a long-term strategic goal of the Indonesian government to make Indonesia a developed, modern, sovereign, just, and prosperous country by its 100th anniversary of independence, it is very realistic.
A dream turned into a strategic vision is not impossible for Indonesia to achieve. Moreover, Indonesia’s demography of approximately 280 million people is certainly very potential for achieving what is called Golden Indonesia 2045.
A dream turned into a concrete vision requires the shared commitment of all citizens. And certainly, making Indonesia Emas 2045 a reality requires solid support with full awareness and shoulder-to-shoulder effort from all elements of the nation.
Every citizen should support it with all their heart, soul, and devotion, unleashing all the potential inherent within themselves. Every citizen and member of the nation must prepare with all their attributes. In this context, the role of human resources becomes very crucial for supporting the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.
Human resources as the driving engine are a key factor that must be the central point of attention and prepared from an early stage. They are the main actors that the nation-state, or in a narrower context, organisations or companies, must prepare.
Artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and various digital devices are products created by humans. Digital devices are built from algorithms and a set of procedural rules arranged linearly to produce routine and repetitive behaviour.
Digital products are also a collection of information compiled as codified past history. Thus, as users, we can easily inquire about the collected data and information.
However, the sophistication of these digital products cannot provide feeling, psychological impressions, or analytical capabilities that can project the future, except through algorithms, data, and information available in big data. This is where human resource capabilities are needed to update and refine big data at all times.
Therefore, digital products in any form are merely tools to facilitate human work to be more productive, efficient, and effective. These products cannot yet, or perhaps cannot at all, make projections and analyses with a high degree of precision.
This is reinforced by Stephen Hawking’s opinion in A Brief History of Time (2013), which states that even if we discover a complete set of fundamental laws, there will still be intellectual challenges in the years ahead to develop better approximation methods so that we can make useful predictions of probable outcomes in complex and realistic situations. A complete, consistent, unified theory is only the first step: our goal is a complete understanding of the events around us, and of our own existence. Thus, the role of human resources in all fields and sectors of national and state life becomes very important.
The next question is what kind of human resources are needed and must be prepared to support the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision. The answer is conscious human resources. Conscious human resources become a new renewable energy that needs to be prepared as early as possible.
Conscious human resources are those who are able to unleash all the potential inherent within themselves, who know their own potential so they can actualise their attachment to the need for solutions in their interactions. Conscious human resources do not master everything, but they can read everything well so they can provide benefits. These benefits are manifested in effective and efficient social interaction activities according to their inherent potential as humans.
In practice, managing conscious human resources needs to be directed towards building the awareness inherent in each individual. It does not compare based on race, religion, or background. It arises from freedom of thought and dialectics with an ecosystem that supports the exchange of ideas and notions. Therefore, the management of conscious human resources always presents a reading of the inherent potential through a civilisational dialectic built by the ecosystem. Thus, the inherent potential of each individual can present harmonious diversity according to their focus of attachment and the benefits produced. At least two ecosystems need the nation and state’s attention: the public sector and the private sector.
