Heavy equipment owned by the BPJN is currently working to clear the soil covering the road. Lubuk Basung (ANTARA) - The national road section connecting Padang City, West Sumatra, to Medan, North Sumatra, was buried by landslide material, specifically at kilometre 32, Jorong Sariak Laweh, Nagari Nan Limo, Palupuh Subdistrict, Agam Regency, on Wednesday morning. As a result, the national road section cannot be traversed by vehicles, leading to a pile-up of vehicles in the area. “The road cannot be passed after the road body at Kelok 32, Jorong Sariak Laweh, Nagari Nan Limo, Palupuh Subdistrict, was buried by landslide material,” said the Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Agam, Rahmat Lasmono, in Lubuk Basung on Wednesday. He stated that the landslide material buried the road body for about 20 metres in length and 1.5 metres in height, occurring on Wednesday (1/4) around 06:15 WIB, after fairly high rainfall hit the area. “Currently, heavy equipment owned by the BPJN is working to clean the soil covering the road,” he said. He acknowledged that traffic flow in the area had opened by 10:30 WIB. The national road section can now be traversed by two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles using an alternating system. “Personnel from the Palupuh Police Sector are also at the location to regulate traffic flow,” he said. He advised drivers to always increase vigilance when passing through the area, as it is prone to landslides if fairly high rainfall hits the region. “Increase vigilance when passing through that area if rainfall is fairly high,” he said.
