Connecting Karet Station and BNI City: KAI Properti to Build Pedestrian Link
KAI Properti is continuing work to integrate the Karet Station and BNI City Station areas through the construction of a pedestrian walkway approximately 250 metres long. Bramantya Candrika, Manager of Corporate Communication at KAI Properti, stated that the walkway will connect the former Karet Station area to BNI City Station as part of a development to provide more integrated access for the public in the area.
“The walkway construction is planned to take place over a period of approximately seven months,” Bramantya said in a written statement in Jakarta on Thursday (3/9/2026).
In its development, Bramantya noted that the walkway will be equipped with travelators and moving walks, each 40 metres long, to support pedestrian mobility along the connecting path to BNI City Station. He expressed hope that these facilities would provide more comfortable access and support the movement of people in one of Jakarta’s high-activity transport zones.
In addition to the pedestrian path construction, Bramantya added that the area’s redevelopment also includes the provision of parking areas and drop-off points for online transportation services. He stated that these facilities are part of the area’s access management to facilitate easier travel for the public from departure points to the station and for those continuing their journeys after using rail services.
Bramantry said the construction of the walkway is a subsequent stage in KAI Properti’s series of works to support the integration of the Karet and BNI City areas. He noted that this 250-metre walkway is designed to create pedestrian connectivity between the former Karet Station area and BNI City Station.
“With the support of travelators and other access facilities, we hope that public movement towards the station area will become easier, more comfortable, and more organised,” Bramantya continued.
Bramantya added that the construction of this walkway is a continuation of the integration work previously carried out by KAI Properti at BNI City Station. In the previous stage, the work included the optimisation of vertical access facilities by replacing travelators with escalators and stairs, the construction of West and East halls to support passenger circulation, the implementation of a smart station concept through the installation of smart lamps on platform areas, and the construction of canopies connected to pedestrian paths.
