JAKARTA — Muhamad Kerry Adrianto Riza, the defendant in a corruption case concerning crude oil and refinery product management at PT Pertamina Persero, expressed confusion over the 15-year prison sentence handed down by the judicial panel.

He contended that many facts presented during trial were not considered in the court’s ruling.

“I am also confused by the verdict because many trial facts were not included in the court’s consideration,” Kerry stated following the hearing at Jakarta’s Corruption Court on Friday, 27 February 2026.

Kerry confirmed he would pursue further legal remedies by filing an appeal.

“God willing, I will file an appeal,” he said.

“I hope I receive justice elsewhere,” he added.

Today, Kerry Adrianto, along with Dimas Werhaspati, Commissioner of PT Navigator Khatulistiwa and Commissioner of PT Jenggala Maritim; and Gading Ramadhan Joedo, Commissioner of PT Jenggala Maritim and Chief Executive Officer of PT Orbit Terminal Merak, faced sentencing in the corruption case involving crude oil and refinery product management at PT Pertamina Persero.

Kerry was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rp1 billion with alternative detention of 190 days.

He was also ordered to pay replacement funds of Rp2,905,420,300,854 (approximately Rp2.9 trillion) with alternative imprisonment of 5 years.

Meanwhile, Gading and Dimas each received 13-year sentences with fines of Rp1 billion and alternative detention of 190 days.

The fuel terminal was not initially an urgent necessity for PT Pertamina. However, due to intervention by Kerry’s father, Mohamad Riza Chalid, the terminal lease project was included in Pertamina’s investment plans in 2014.

Additionally, the procurement of three vessels owned by Kerry was deemed unlawful as the procurement process failed to comply with applicable regulations and tender procedures.
