Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has revealed that the Ministry of Finance will extend the deadline for submitting annual tax returns (SPT) for individual taxpayers or individuals.

The filing deadline for Individual Taxpayers (WP OP) has been extended until the end of April 2026, from the original 31 March 2026. Purbaya believes that Director General of Taxation Bimo Wijayanto has already announced this extension of the SPT filing deadline.

“The SPT filing deadline can be like that (aligned with corporate taxpayers at the end of April). Hasn’t Bimo (Director General of Taxation) already spoken about it?” he stated on Wednesday (25/3/2026).

The Director General of Taxation at the Ministry of Finance, Bimo Wijayanto, had previously opened the option for extending the annual SPT filing period for individual taxpayers. This extension considers that the original deadline falls during the joint leave for Eid al-Fitr.

He said an evaluation would be conducted about one week before Lebaran. If the reporting graph shows an upward trend, the deadline is likely to remain as scheduled.

“We’ll see one week before Lebaran. If the graph (of reporting) can rise, it will probably stay as it is for the WP OP deadline,” Bimo told reporters at the Dhanapala Tower, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (10/3/2026).

However, at that time, Bimo emphasised that the proposal would first be submitted to the Finance Minister for approval.

“But we’re also prepared to anticipate depending on our level of confidence one week before Lebaran. I’ll report it to the Minister first to seek permission,” he said.
