Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The government, through the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag), has concluded the Sidang Isbat session to determine 1 Syawal 1447 Hijriah. The result is that Eid al-Fitr will fall on 21 March 2026.

The decision was directly announced by Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Nasaruddin Umar at the Sidang Isbat held in the Auditorium HM Rasjidi, MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (19/3/2026).

Nasaruddin Umar explained that the determination of the month in Indonesia uses the MABIMS crescent method, namely a crescent height of 3 degrees and an elongation of 6 degrees. Technically, the position of the crescent on the determination day did not meet the MABIMS criteria. The crescent height in several regions of Indonesia was still below the minimum threshold required.

The position of the crescent in Indonesian territories showed heights ranging from 0 degrees 55 minutes 27 seconds to 3 degrees 7 minutes 52 seconds, and elongations from 4 degrees 32 minutes 42 seconds to 6 degrees 6 minutes 11 seconds.

Therefore, based on calculations, said Nasaruddin, the crescent data did not meet the criteria.

β€œIt has been confirmed that the crescent was not visible; no one saw the crescent. Thus, based on the calculation results, it is agreed that 1 Syawal 1447 Hijriah falls on Saturday. That concludes the Sidang Isbat we have conducted,” explained Nasaruddin Umar.

The crescent results have been confirmed to officials at 117 observation points across Indonesia and the reporting team.
